Letting Go of Old Favorites + Gap Give & Get Sales

I wasn’t planning to blog for the coming month or so because of my upcoming Physics GRE, which I’m sweating bullets over… it’s only the test to determine my future…yeah. But I decided to pop on as a mean to keep myself up until 11 PM before I try to go to sleep and reset my sleeping cycle. I’ve become a terrible insomniac of late and it’s gotten to the point where I sleep a couple of hours at night and a couple during the evening. I’m hoping to get it fix by the time I hit the exam which is scheduled for 8:30 AM… it kills me.

I’ve been meaning to blog about this particular JCrew cardigan of mine for the longest time. It is my all time favorite cardigan despites the pain I’ve inflicted on it during my weak moments of frustration.

That my friend is a hole on the right hand side. It’s one of the many holes on the sweater that occurred after a mindless throw into the washer/dryer at some point ago. I was probably frustrated with a physics problem and decided to do laundry to take out the frustration… sounds oddly familiar to this past weekend’s series of events. The victim of late is a beautiful royal blue silk dress with pleats down the center… except now it’s just a big poof of fabric panel with no details. =/

I just find it incredibly hard to part with things I really really like. I can’t take myself to throw out the sweater despite the rip-n-tear from sleeves to neck to the body of the cardigan. I fear not finding something to replace my affection… a lesson in letting go should be in the works.

The top underneath is becoming one of my obsession lately as it’s been the top I’ve come to reach whenever it’s clean. I love the texture and lightness of the 100% polyester top. It looks quite unflattering on the model because it appears to be lose on her, but it’s really nice in person. I love the un-hemmed panels in the center, giving just a hint of interest. It looks wonderful tucked into a skirt, or underneath a cardigan with slacks. It’s sleeveless so I can imagine it pair with khaki shorts,  add skinny belt to give shape, pair with oxfords and ankle detailed/pattern trouser socks or just cute strappy sandles… do you see my vision?

On other fronts of life, Gap is currently have a $25 off $50 deal when you enter in your mobile number, here. The deal’s good until March 16th. I only found a couple of items I’m interested in, but I’m probably going to look into getting some new pants for the Boyfriend.

Left: Petite Silk Tie-Waist Blouse ($59)
Right: Silk Belted Ruffle Shell ($60, not petite)

To end today, I just want to pop in a photo of the petite I got from Star bucks. Thanks to Jean and Stephanie for tweeting about it. I got a Red Velvet Whoopi Pie which honestly was really too sweet for me. Felt like I was eating raw agave nectar straight from a bottle.

The petites are being given away with a purchase of handcrafted drink until March 12th between the hours  of 2 PM to 5 PM. By petite, it’s quite petite.

Thanks for tuning into a long yapping session.

  2. I like your top from Target! I find it really hard to part with things I don't really like, broken, and don't fit...I'm even worse!

    Good luck with your GRE!
