OTK Boots

During my short stay at home for the holidays, the younger sister, Freda, and I went on a small shopping trip at the local Goodwill. We’re both Goodwill lovers because prices are ridiculous cheap for, sometimes, brand new clothing items. It takes a lot of sifting which I don’t mind because I’m there to spend time with the sister rather than just blowing off the money.

On the recent trip, I came out with brand new over-the-knees boots by Mossimo for Target. Faux leather, black and doesn’t exactly scream expensive but they look good. For 10 bucks, I can’t complain.

They held up quite well. I wore them to NYC to meet up with the Boyfriend, and some physics friends. They amazingly held through all the sludge and gorge puddles of nasty melted snow and dirt. Knock on wood.

I’ll definitely include a picture in the next update for the PFC as well as my holiday’s outfit.

5 years sure flew by in a flash

The Boyfriend and I decided to spend some time together today because it’s our fifth anniversary. Seems like a flash, and I tortured him yesterday to recall our significant events, i.e. when he started liking me and vice versa. Lots of fun memories, but above everything, we owe it to our friends Chris and Maria for the helping hand. I wish I had saved a copy of the “sign” they left for the Boyfriend and I after the trip to City and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Anyhow, I was going to post up my evening outfit, but the Iphone 4 resolution in dim lights is awful so I scrapped it altogether and opted just for the dining portion. We dined at Cheesecake Factory because the Boyfriend and I were in Prudential shopping for a Holiday gift swap. We would have made the excursion to the Irish seafood restaurant that had crème brulee on the desserts menu but the Boyfriend needed to finish his take home final for one of his graduate course.

The Boyfriend had his usual, plain pasta and grilled chicken. I had the Steak Diane and Herb Crusted Salmon combination.

I wasn’t able to finish the entire entrée; I had only the Steak Diane which was made to medium well. There were a few medium rare pieces actually but it was quite alright. I didn’t find the steak to be anything amazing; something I can whip up at home rather easily actually. I did like the mushrooms especially the sliced portabellas. The water crest added much needed color and was refreshing. The sauce was actually too salty therefore I didn’t enjoy dipping my steak in it much.

The actual description on the menu reads as: “Medallions of Certified Angus Beef Steak Covered with Black Peppercorns and a Rich Mushroom Wine Sauce. Served with Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Onions.”  I think anyone can make beef with black peppercorns and would still tasted like what I had today. the sauce was really not impressive and didn’t really enhance the beef or mushrooms.

The herb crusted salmon with half a portion of mashed potatoes is currently sitting in my fridge awaiting for tasting tomorrow.

salmon

I like the mashed potatoes, though to be honest I love mashed potatoes of any kind.

How long have you and your significant other been together? What do you guys do for your anniversary? I’ve always found it interesting how other couples spend their time together. The Boyfriend and I are really old at heart and prefer to spend time inside doing quiet things; this usually means he on the computer playing games, while I browse the blogsphere, haha.

Cheers,

Gracie

Yet another Loft Holiday Sale

I’m taking a mini break from my programming night. I took a peek at Ann Taylor Loft, just for the fun of it and it appears Loft is having a 40% OFF entire purchase today in store and online as well as free shipping with code: HOLIDAY.

I’m looking at the items on sale:

The Jossa Suede Over The Knee Flat Boot: Sale: $99; discount: $60

OTK

Has anyone tried these yet? And if you did, how are they on your frame? I’m a little under 5 feet, so I wonder how far above my knees these will be.

1/2 Sleeve Shawl Collar Cardigan: Sale: 39.99; discount: $24

The only thing being that I have a very similar sweater/shawl cardigan like this in olive green that I had bought from a thrift store some while back.

I have this slight obsession with belts, and this leather double wrap in cognac is tickling my fancy like no other. Image Here

On a different note, how do you bloggers find images to link to Ann Taylor Loft and what not? I find it incredible difficult to find these images on Google and then link them to Loft because Loft doesn’t allow me to save the picture since they use flash.

Happy shopping!

Gracie.
