5 years sure flew by in a flash

The Boyfriend and I decided to spend some time together today because it’s our fifth anniversary. Seems like a flash, and I tortured him yesterday to recall our significant events, i.e. when he started liking me and vice versa. Lots of fun memories, but above everything, we owe it to our friends Chris and Maria for the helping hand. I wish I had saved a copy of the “sign” they left for the Boyfriend and I after the trip to City and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Anyhow, I was going to post up my evening outfit, but the Iphone 4 resolution in dim lights is awful so I scrapped it altogether and opted just for the dining portion. We dined at Cheesecake Factory because the Boyfriend and I were in Prudential shopping for a Holiday gift swap. We would have made the excursion to the Irish seafood restaurant that had crème brulee on the desserts menu but the Boyfriend needed to finish his take home final for one of his graduate course.

The Boyfriend had his usual, plain pasta and grilled chicken. I had the Steak Diane and Herb Crusted Salmon combination.

I wasn’t able to finish the entire entrée; I had only the Steak Diane which was made to medium well. There were a few medium rare pieces actually but it was quite alright. I didn’t find the steak to be anything amazing; something I can whip up at home rather easily actually. I did like the mushrooms especially the sliced portabellas. The water crest added much needed color and was refreshing. The sauce was actually too salty therefore I didn’t enjoy dipping my steak in it much.

The actual description on the menu reads as: “Medallions of Certified Angus Beef Steak Covered with Black Peppercorns and a Rich Mushroom Wine Sauce. Served with Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Onions.”  I think anyone can make beef with black peppercorns and would still tasted like what I had today. the sauce was really not impressive and didn’t really enhance the beef or mushrooms.

The herb crusted salmon with half a portion of mashed potatoes is currently sitting in my fridge awaiting for tasting tomorrow.

I like the mashed potatoes, though to be honest I love mashed potatoes of any kind.

How long have you and your significant other been together? What do you guys do for your anniversary? I’ve always found it interesting how other couples spend their time together. The Boyfriend and I are really old at heart and prefer to spend time inside doing quiet things; this usually means he on the computer playing games, while I browse the blogsphere, haha.

Cheers,

Gracie

  1. What a sweet anniversary dinner...the mashed potato looks delicious...I am drooling here.

My bf and I have been together for 3 years (it was *almost* love at first sight). We don't really celebrate anniversaries because we can't agree on exactly when our anniversary is. We are similar to your and your bf, we enjoy spending time together inside and doing low-key things.
